The Ambassadors. Hans Holbein, 1533 (Oil on wood, 207 x 209.5 cm. National Gallery, London.)
Just how the mother fucker mutates so much is a mystery? But Im not sure it matters, as the end result is what matters and whether its gonna go anywhere?
I think this thing has legs. At the very least It means I can get rid of a lot of stuff. Or should that be "condense a lot of stuff".
Anyway.. having a picture of stuff can change it some how.
I think these things need to be deeper.
so despite all the work that goes into making one of these. Im going to put even more in and make them THICCCK
Hans Holbein was the driving force behind me try to do a skull.
Though I often forget where I started from. The above images follow on from my three legged table and the master chair
the table really is just a found object in use to convey my usual preoccupation
of pathetic-ness.
Its very well finished an cool in a "Ooh thats cool" way. As well as being
somewhat cool and remote in execution
All of these things make it pretty pathetic to me.
The chair though is quite a powerfull piece of work(I dont know why). So stupidly simple and
yet theres something compelling about it
also something very frustrating about. It very much is its own full stop.
So from that my other preoccupation "Power" turns my head to holbein.
Depictions of power, the bat is part of a game. there are always two halfs, two sides.
power and weakness light and dark etc etc...
